Windy City Retreat 2017

“Nourishing the Writer’s Soul”

with Special Guest Barbara Samuel

(Some of you may know her as Barbara O’Neal)

Friday Workshop

Whether it’s too much feedback from reviewers or contest judges who hate your three chapters, an editor who doesn’t understand you or a husband who thinks you’re wasting your time, there are a million things that undermine our love of writing. This is a workshop on ways to get the magic back.

Saturday Six-hour Master Class

Whether you’re meeting your voice for the first time, trying to find it, trying to hone it, or trying to get in touch with it again, this workshop is meant for you. What you will need: A writing utensil and paper. Barbara doesn’t forbid laptops but strongly recommends writing by hand to get the full power of the exercises.

Voice is one of the most misunderstood aspects in all of writing—and possibly the most powerful. By working with hands-on, interactive exercises, we will explore the many aspects that create a writer’s unique fingerprint—and ways to fit that voice to the marketplace.

This six-hour Voice master class is a hands-on workshop designed to really allow writers to hear their own voices.
