Swim in Your Own Lane with Allie Pleiter

November 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Swim in Your Own Lane: Taming Envy & Comparison in Your Writing Career

This will be our Annual General Meeting along with the scheduled program.

Every author will battle a season with the Green-Eyed Monster of envy.  Amazon rankings, awards, publisher attention, indie sales–you name it, life hands an author too many reasons to tie ourselves in jealous knots. How do you cope and keep focus in an industry bent on ranking you against your colleagues in so many ways?  Even after seventeen years and over 1.3 million book sold, Allie Pleiter is all-too-familiar with the harms of professional comparison.  She shares insights, tips, and tactics to keep you “swimming in your own lane” and focused on the career that matters most: yours.

About Allie:

A coffee junky, French macaron fan, and “dangerously obsessive knitter,” Allie Pleiter writes both fiction and non-fiction working on as many as four books at a time.  The enthusiastic but untidy bestselling author of over two dozen titles, Allie spends her days writing, buying yarn, and finding new ways to avoid housework.  Allie hails from Connecticut, moved to the midwest to attend Northwestern University, and currently lives outside Chicago, Illinois.  The “dare from a friend” to begin writing has produced a seventeen-year career with over 1.3 million books sold.  In addition to writing, Allie regularly speaks on faith, the creative process, women’s issues, and her most popular topic: the Chunky Method of time management for writers.
