Critique Night: Igniting the Fireworks

Igniting the Fireworks…

Whether meeting for the first time in an epic meet cute, or long-time friends coming together into something more, the first time your characters share the page sparks should fly! Join your fellow Windy Citizens in the year’s first Critique Night where we focus on perfecting the fireworks between your characters in their first on-page interaction. You are invited to read up to 5 pages of the MS that shows the first meeting (or interaction) between your characters.  The first time we see the love interests interact can color our view of the entire romance, so we want to make sure we’re getting the most “bang” for our words.Critiques will focus on building the “sparks” (whether you call it chemistry or sexual tension) to get the most out of that scene.

Blowing Kisses To: Molly O’Keefe

100_3001aAuthor Molly O’Keefe joined Windy City all the way from Toronto to discuss the importance of building great characters in a love story since the reader is already expecting a “Happily Ever After” and essentially knows how the story will end.

Molly, along with Windy City members, worked on an exercise to create multidimensional characters by working with their specific descriptions.

Molly was engaging, witty and an all-around delight! A big Windy City thank you to Molly O’Keefe!
